Quick Summary
This body scrub was pretty disappointing.
When I went to unscrew the cap, a bunch of the salt fell out before I took the cap off, which made me think the seal wasn’t great on the jar.
I also thought this scrub was really dry – I wanted to add a bunch of oils to it before I used it.
The salt granules are about the consistency of table salt, which is generally really effective for exfoliating.
This is really messy because the salt is really loose and dry. I found salt everywhere after I used it each time.
I thought the results were just ok – I had to use a lot of the salt each time in order to exfoliate well.
Afterward, my skin felt soft, but only in some areas. It was difficult to keep the product in one spot on my leg so that I could exfoliate well, so I got uneven results.
Over time, I didn’t see much difference in my skin. With all the great ingredients, I was surprised my skin was so dry and unevenly exfoliated.
Detailed Review:
Texture/Feel
This is a light pink, salt scrub.
The salt granules are small (about the size of table salt).
Smell (in the bottle)
This scrub smells nice – very light and sweet (not too strong or overpowering).
Application Process
This is one of the messiest exfoliators I have applied.
Because it was so dry, the salt was everywhere.
I had to continually scoop more out to really exfoliate well, so that led to more and more of a mess.
I tried stirring and shaking the jar before I used it so the oils would mix with the salt, but it didn’t seem to help much.
Any Drying and/or Redness?
My legs did feel very dry, which is kind of expected after exfoliating, but I thought they were more dry than usual.
I didn’t see any redness.
Short Term Results
After drying my legs off, I noticed that my skin looked and felt exfoliated in some areas, but I couldn’t really get an even result because of how dry the product is.
I think I was expecting more with all of the great ingredients like Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Almond Seed Oil.
I ended up with slightly softer skin, but it also felt so dry that it didn’t really matter.
I noticed my skin was lightly scented, which I liked. But the results were splotchy and I could see areas where I wasn’t able to exfoliate as well as others.
Long Term Results
After using this multiple times, I didn’t see any difference in my skin.
The instructions say to “Use regularly for best results,” but I found that the more I used it, the drier my skin became.
Even in the areas where I was able to exfoliate well, my skin didn’t really look any brighter or firmer.
I think for the price of $13.95, this should really have produced better results.
Ingredients
This scrub contains Himalayan Salt, which is very commonly used in salt scrubs. It works great in terms of exfoliating and also dissolves in the water, so you don’t have to worry about clogging your drain.
An interesting ingredient in this scrub is Lychee Fruit Oil, which is loaded with Vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to help keep skin bright and firm.
This has Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, which is generally great at moisturizing the skin. But I didn’t think there was enough in this product.
Price
This scrub is $13.95 for 12 oz, which is pretty middle-of-the-line.
