    Quick Summary

Compared to other “daily” exfoliators, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is one of our favorites!

It’s extremely gentle yet works really well.

And it contains a lot of great ingredients that can nourish and calm your skin in addition to exfoliating it.

There aren’t many downsides to this product except for the slightly more involved application process and the high price tag.

But overall, we like the results we got with this one and would recommend it for most skin types!

    Detailed Review:

    Texture/Feel

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant comes out of the tube as a dry white powder– almost like baby powder.

Once you add water to your hands, it becomes a very thin, lightweight “paste”.

The granules in this are very fine and soft (not rigid and rough like some we’ve seen).

    Smell

This exfoliator has virtually no smell to it.

However, there is a trace smell of oatmeal that we detected… very light and fresh.

    Application Process

Applying Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is a little more difficult than other exfoliators.

Because you have to add it to wet hands, it can be a little messy.

Basically, you put half of a teaspoon into your wet hands.

This supposedly activates the exfoliator at which point you apply it to your face in a circular motion.

It’s not a terribly difficult process but it takes more work than those exfoliators that come out of the tube as a lotion.

    Any Drying and/or Redness?

We didn’t experience any redness or dryness while using Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

It’s tabbed as a “daily” exfoliant so it tends to be very gentle.

    Results

We were pleasantly surprised by the results of this exfoliator.

The granules are so small, light and fine that we thought it wouldn’t work very well.

But lo and behold, our skin felt very soft and renewed once we rinsed the product off!

This “soft” feeling even lasted into the next day.

So while this is not a super-strong exfoliator, it works very well as a gentle, daily product.

    Ingredients

We really like the ingredient lineup in Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

It uses chemical exfoliation through proven ingredients like salicylic acid and rice enzymes.

And it also includes cosmeceuticals like colloidal oatmeal, tea tree oil and ginkgo biloba extract to calm and smooth the skin.

We like to see ingredients like that in daily exfoliators (since they’re on your skin so often).

    Price

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant costs a whopping $52.00 for a 2.6 ounce bottle.

That works out to $20 per ounce, which is extremely expensive for an exfoliator.

Now, you do mix it with water, so it’ll last longer than a comparable 2.6 ounce exfoliator “lotion”.  But it’s still rather pricey…
