    Quick Summary

I gave Garnier The Expert Exfoliator 2 out of 5 stars. I found it to be a below average exfoliator as I just couldn’t get past the smell!

It literally smells like hair dye. The scent is very overwhelming and it smells like chemicals… definitely not something I want to apply to my face.

The results of this product were very average. It did an okay job exfoliating, however it left my skin dry.

One of the few positives of this one is the cheap price tag. It can be found on Amazon for $7.47, which is very inexpensive compared to most exfoliators.

So overall, I wasn’t very impressed with Garnier Expert Exfoliator, hence the 2 star rating.

    Detailed Review:

Garnier The Expert Exfoliator is a very thick green scrub. It comes out of the tube as a sticky, slimy gel, which I found to be very odd.

Because of the consistency of this product, I was a little concerned about the difficulty when applying it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the product spread over my skin and effortlessly it rinsed off.

I’m obviously not a fan of the smell; it smells like a shampoo or hair dye. The scent is very powerful and chemical smelling.

It’s not a scent I would prefer for my face. For facial products, I prefer something gentler and more natural smelling.

    Application Process

Garnier’s Expert Exfoliator is recommended for daily use.

This product is very easy to apply. Just squeeze a small amount onto wet hands, massage into wet skin, then rinse and pat dry.

I really like how easy the application of this gel is.

However, during use I was overwhelmed by the smell of chemicals. While having some chemical exfoliants in a product can be good, I don’t want to feel as though I am applying straight acid to my face!

    Any Drying and/or Redness?

Although the smell of the product made me think I was burning my face off, I didn’t experience any redness while using it.

However, I did experience some drying after regular use… it was probably all the chemicals drying my skin out.

Immediately after using this scrub, my skin felt clean. But it also felt tight/dry so it’s important to use a good moisturizer after using this product.

Overall, it did just an okay job exfoliating my skin. It didn’t get rid of all my dry areas, there were still some visible ones left after I used it. But my skin felt clean and soft after use.

If you have dry or sensitive skin, you may want to cut back to using this product every other day as opposed to the recommended daily use.

Garnier uses microbeads as the main exfoliant in their Expert Exfoliator. Which, although may be a great exfoliant, are very bad for the environment and have been controversial lately.

This product also includes oat amino acids and green leaf extract, which are known to help smooth and soothe your skin.

I love the price of this exfoliator.

It costs $7.47, which works out to be $1.49 an oz.

An exfoliator under $10 is a bargain in my book!
