Quick Summary
I was extremely disappointed with GlamGlow’s Youthmud!
This exfoliator is one of the biggest rip offs. It costs over $40 an oz. for a tedious application process and unsatisfying results.
The mask is so thick it’s nearly impossible to spread onto your skin. After applying, you have to leave the product on for 10 minutes as it burns your face.
On top of all this, I was very disappointed with the results of this exfoliator. This product left my face oily and didn’t help with my acne or fine lines.
Detailed Review:
Texture/Feel
GlamGlow Youthmud is very, very thick. The texture is similar to your typical clay or mud mask.
The mask contains green tea leaf, which I’m not a fan of. The leaves don’t easily spread over your skin and take up a lot of space in the container. They seem like a big waste to me. Maybe they include them to make it look healthy for your skin??
Smell
This exfoliator smells very strongly of green tea. I actually found the scent to be a little overwhelming as you have to leave it on your skin for an extended period of time. Normally I like green tea scent, but this one was way too strong.
Application Process
The application of this mask isn’t easy!
First, the directions tell you to stir the product to liquefy it.
They don’t provide anything to stir it with so I grabbed a toothpick. The product is so thick it was difficult to stir. After stirring multiple times, it didn’t liquefy at all.
After you “liquefy” the product, apply a thin layer to your face.
This is easier said than done.
Because the product was so thick, I found it extremely difficult to spread over my face. I also found that the chunks of green tea leafs got in the way and take up a lot of useful product space.
I was surprised by how much product it took to cover my face. The whole jar would probably last 5-7 uses.
Next, you wait…
The directions say to leave the product on for 10 minutes. Let me tell you… this is a LONG 10 minutes.
They say that the product tingles but that’s putting it lightly. It actually stung my face and became itchy as it started to dry. I couldn’t wait to get the product off.
After the 10 minutes is up, rinse the mask off with warm water using circular motions.
Any Drying and/or Redness?
Although the mask stung as it was on my skin, I was surprised I didn’t experience any drying or redness while using GlamGlow Youthmud.
Results
The results of the product were average at best.
After rinsing the product off, my skin felt smooth; however, this was short lived. A few hours after use, I felt as though my skin was even more oily than it was prior to use. Eww!
Although it removed some of the dead skin cells on my face, I was disappointed that it didn’t even touch the acne I was struggling with.
As far as the anti-aging properties, I didn’t notice my skin any brighter or tighter after continual use of this product… what a let down.
Ingredients
French sea clay is one of the main ingredients in GlamGlow’s YouthMud. This clay is known for its detoxifying qualities. When applied to the skin, it is said to rid the skin of toxins and aid the skin in healing.
Another main ingredient in this mask is volcanic pumice rock. This is a common exfoliating agent and it’s known to smooth skin by gently removing dead skin cells.
Green tea leafs are another key ingredient in GlamGlow YouthMud. Green tea leafs are supposed to help clear acne due to the antibacterial agents they contain.
Price
GlamGlow is extremely expensive. This mask cost $69.00 for 1.7oz. That works out to $40 an oz.!!
And let me tell you, this is not one of those situations where a little goes a long way… what a rip off!
