How To Make The Perfect DIY Coffee Scrub

If you haven’t made your own DIY coffee scrub, then what the heck are you waiting for?

Maybe you just aren’t sure what benefits a coffee scrub has for both your face and body.

Or maybe you aren’t sure how to make your own, because, let’s be real, anything DIY can be a little intimidating.

If that’s the case, then you’re in good hands.

In this post, we’re covering everything from the benefits of using a DIY coffee scrub, to the easiest recipes you can whip up in just a minute or two, and everything in between.

The Benefits of a DIY Coffee Scrub

If you missed our blog post on the best DIY exfoliators for every skin type, you’ll want to take a minute to hop over there and read it. You can find it here.

One thing we covered in that post is just how many effective and natural exfoliators you can find in your very own kitchen—and coffee is no exception.

What makes coffee such a perfect exfoliator? We’re glad you asked.

Coffee is an anti-inflammatory, which is super effective at getting rid of any swelling and redness you may have on your face and body.

Also, thanks to the caffeine found in coffee, using a DIY coffee scrub can be very useful as a skin brightener.

The caffeine provides protection for your skin against bacteria and other elements that can lead to dull skin, giving your face a chance to show off its healthy glow.

Coffee is also known to be a natural anti-aging ingredient, and that too is thanks to the caffeine!

Considered a natural skin tightener, it can help plump up your skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles on your face, and other areas on your body, such as your chest.

Have cellulite?  Coffee may be your best bet at getting rid of it.

Or at least temporarily, depending on who you ask.

While it’s often been said that coffee gets rid of cellulite, the jury is still out on that one.

Some say that applying a DIY coffee scrub simply lessens the appearance of it for a time.

When you scrub with any exfoliator hard enough (which you shouldn’t do), it can cause inflammation, so you’ll experience slight swelling in that area.

The swelling can lessen the appearance of cellulite.

So while it isn’t totally an answer, it can be your best friend if you’re planning to take photos by the pool or on the beach.

On the other hand, some say that the caffeine in the DIY coffee scrub tighten and provide antioxidants to the skin when applied topically, and is super effective at reducing cellulite overtime.

Whether it’s temporary or has long lasting effects, it’s definitely a benefit to enjoy!

Finally, using a DIY coffee scrub may be a more gentle option for exfoliating your skin than a lot of other exfoliators out there—store bought or DIY recipes.

As we’ve said in many of our blog posts, exfoliating shouldn’t hurt, and ground up coffee beans are a perfect exfoliant that is both effective at removing dead skins cells while also not damaging your delicate skin.

This will lead to softer skin, less breakouts, and all the other wonderful benefits of using a skin exfoliator.

DIY Coffee Scrub Is As Easy As It Gets

Many of us, if not all of us, are coffee drinkers.  Whether you have a single cup a day or drink it from sun up to sun down, there’s a good chance you have coffee grounds in your house.

One of the best parts of a DIY coffee scrub is that you can use the coffee grounds after you’ve brewed a pot of coffee.

    Or not.

It’s completely up to you!  You just need ground coffee beans, and you’re in business.

Since a DIY coffee scrub is also perfect for both face and body use, you only have to make one scrub.

Talk about a major time saver, right?

You’ll also find that a DIY coffee scrub is as low maintenance as it gets.

While other DIY scrubs require a long list of ingredients, you can get away with literally TWO ingredients and bam!  You have an effective scrub.
