    Quick Summary

This exfoliating cleanser has some great ingredients.

It is marketed as a dermatologist-tested product that has gone through previous clinical study, so I was really excited to see the results.

After several uses, I decided to give it 3.5/5 stars.

At first, I was worried that it might be too gentle of an exfoliator. The particles are very small and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of them.

I really liked the smell and texture of Kiehl’s Skin Brightening Exfoliator, which is really fresh and organic.

It is really easy to use with the bottle and does not make a mess.

Right after use, it made my skin feel extremely clean.

As an exfoliator, it is definitely very gentle, but it definitely did a great job at taking all the make-up off my face.

The price is not too expensive at $29.00 for 4.2 fl oz, which I thought was reasonable for the amount of product.

After multiple uses, I noticed my skin was clear and my pores seemed smaller.

It also seemed to dry out my skin over time, so I had to use extra moisturizer after each use.

I didn’t really notice any change in the tone of my skin or improvement in complexion.

Overall, I liked it more as a cleanser, but not as an exfoliator.

    Detailed Review:

This is an airy/creamy cleanser, which is white with small exfoliating particles.

The Perlite pieces are very fine and gentle.

    Smell (in the bottle)

The smell is really nice and soothing. Kiehl’s Skin Brightening Exfoliator smells organic and almost herbal.

    Application Process

Application is very easy with the packaging.

This is a bottle which can stand up on the counter and does not leave a mess.

I used the product as directed, using a small amount and working it into my skin with warm water.

The cleanser was very easy to wash off with water. It did not leave any sticky residue or film.

After washing it off, it always made my skin feel “squeaky” clean.

    Any Drying and/or Redness?

I experienced some dryness after several uses, but nothing that a little extra moisturizer after couldn’t fix.

I did not have any redness or breaking out.

    Short Term Results

After use, I noticed that my skin felt soft the next day.

It was definitely a good cleanser, but I didn’t feel like it was removing that top layer of dead skin or really exfoliating the way I was hoping it would.

    Long Term Results

After several uses, I noticed that my skin was getting more and more dry.

I thought the exfoliating was working, but I didn’t see any change in the tone or complexion of my skin.

I was really hoping that it would brighten more after using it for a longer period of time.

This exfoliating cleanser has Perlite exfoliating beads, which are naturally occurring in the environment.  They are very fine and extremely gentle.

Peony extract is used in tons of skin products on the market and is thought to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

There is also salicylic acid in the cleanser, which I generally do not use in my facial cleanser.  It is a very popular ingredient in cleansers and acne treatments.

The price of $29.00 for 4.2 oz is very reasonable and right in the low-middle in terms of pricing for skin products.
