    Quick Summary

My opinion of Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is mixed.

If you have sensitive skin, this will probably work well as an exfoliator. However, I think it might a little TOO gentle for those with normal skin.

Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder has no scent and a very impressive list of ingredients, which are definite pluses.

This product is a powder, so it works as an exfoliator, cleanser and toner. I find that it does a great job cleansing my skin, but the rice powder is too gentle of an exfoliant for my liking.

Another issue I have with this product is the price. It’s $65 for 2.01 oz… that comes out to a little over $32 an oz! Talk about breaking the bank.

So I ended up giving this exfoliator 3 out of 5 stars because although I think it will work for those of you with sensitive skin, it just didn’t work all that great for me.

    Detailed Review:

    Texture/Feel

Tatcha Polished Enzyme Powder is a fine white powder that resembles baby powder.

When mixed with water, it becomes a thick paste with a lumpy texture to it.

    Smell

I really like that the Classic Enzyme Powder has no scent.

A lot of scents can be overwhelming and end up taking away from the product.

In order to create these scents, companies often include fragrance which can also be irritating to sensitive skin.

I’m very pleased that Tatcha doesn’t include fragrance and this product doesn’t have an overpowering scent.

    Application Process

To apply Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder, start with wet hands and a wet face.

Pour about half a teaspoon of the powder into your hands, add water and rub into a creamy paste. Then, massage the lather onto your skin for 10-20 seconds then rinse and pat dry.

It didn’t say on the packaging or their website how often to use this product.

However, I was able to find on the Sephora website that it is suitable for daily use.

After using this product, I’d definitely agree that it is gentle enough for daily use (too gentle actually!).

Being that this is a powder, the application process is a little bit more cumbersome as it doesn’t come ready to use.

However, out of all the powder exfoliators I have tried I found this one to be the easiest due to its packaging.

Speaking of packaging, I absolutely love it with this product.

It comes in a sleek jar with a latch you slide to pour the product.

The latch is a great idea because it allows you to use the product in the shower without water getting into the jar.

The hole that the latch covers is very small but enables the product to pour out easily without making a mess.

Although it doesn’t say on the packaging or website, I saw on Sephora’s website that this product works as an exfoliator, cleanser and toner.

I’m all about multi-purpose products so I really like that I could kill 3 birds with this one. Although, I have to say it worked better at cleansing and toning, then it did at exfoliating.

One last note, I also found that the rice powder in this product disintegrated rather quickly.

This may be why the instructions say to use for 10-2o seconds because it doesn’t last any longer than that.

    Any Drying and/or Redness?

I didn’t experience any drying or redness after immediate or continuous use of Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder.

This product is extremely gentle and suitable for daily use and sensitive skin.

    Results

I saw average results from Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder.

When trying this product as a cleanser and toner I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

It effectively removed all my face make-up (make sure to remove your eye-make up beforehand) and left my skin looking very even.

But when it came to actually exfoliating my skin, this product fell short.

The rice powder in this product is too gentle. Although it left my skin feeling extremely clean and soft, it didn’t exfoliate areas of dry skin I had.

    It’s recommended for normal/combination skin.

However, I would recommend this to those of you with sensitive skin, or those looking for a VERY gentle exfoliator.

    Ingredients

Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder has an impressive lineup of ingredients.

It contains only 16 ingredients and doesn’t have any synthetic coloring, fragrances or parabens.

Its main exfoliating ingredient is rice powder.

This rice powder is a blend of rice and papaya enzymes, conditioning pearl and Tatcha’s HADASEL-3 Bioactive complex (made up of Rice Bran Oil, Red Algae and Green Tea).

This combination is said to gently buff away dead skin cells leaving your face brighter, smoother and baby-soft.

    Price

My least favorite thing about this product is the price.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is one of the most expense exfoliators on the market.

It sells for $65 for 2.01 oz. That’s a whopping $32 and oz!
